Pedestrian gives new link road one-star review — a poem

Plodding a bridge of concrete and steel

Where once were fields

A new world of convenience

Plasters over the absence

Everything has a price

A manifesto so invasive

I wonder if I’d sell the walking boots

Off my feet

To that couple up ahead

If they paid up-front and promptly

Probably.

Commuters commute

The bulging eyes of a roadkill fox

Bore into me from a distance

The innocent and guilty

Will be judged alike.
